the avengers

last sunday, i went out for watching "the avengers". we didnt get the ticket for 8pm, so we bought the 9.50 ticket...
i was surprised, the theatre was almost full with viewer. there were so many people watch it. i guest it was because there was Robert Downey jr. on the movie.. hhehe.
and it was a GOOD MOVIE. ....^_^

Joseon Detective, 조선명탐정: 각시투구꽃의 비밀

This was the first Korean movie that I watch in theater with my own money...

Joseon Detective.. or "Detective K" (I don't really like the English version title)

is tell a story of a reckless but genius detective from Joseon Dynasty, an ancient history of Korea. Almost like Sherlock Holmes, but with Korean style story.. and also, with case solving skills that using ancient chemistry knowledge. 

Imagine at that time, they don't have finger prints, camera, or other fancy tools like James Bond had. So, they just rely on evidence and proof it while their live also on risk.

From getting a special order from the King, meet with famous gisaeng

run and hide escaping from villains, 

solving several cases by seeing a trace of evidences, and a few funny moment with his accompany friend,... 

Good movie..! even my friend who can't understand 100 % of the dialog (cause she also foreigner like me) didn't fall a sleep, and said, "indah!.. it was a good movie. I like it.. many action, and funny.. also good story line"

This movie removed my boredom and I felt entertained.

So.. it's another worth watch movie..hehe ^^

GLove.. first movie that I watched on year 2011.. 1st Feb.

One of the reason that I watched this movie because it was free. hehe.. my school payed it for us.. foreigner students who study Korean language during this winter vacation.. 

But, anyway.. when I heard the story and the actor.. I thought it must be a worth watch movie. Thankfully I wasn't wrong. 

Based on a real story, this movie is talk about an athlete who was "a bit" reckless on his life, and made he have to do social work, as a baseball coach on one special high school for deaf kids. Things that looked impossible at the first time..(teaching baseball to deaf kids), but with fighting spirit that those kids had they try and able to play the game as good as other team.   

"It's not about you.. your self.. but it's about you and your team. You have to trust your friends and remember, that each of you hold a responsible for other team members.."

Team work..! that's what I learned from this movie.. Something sounds impossible could become possible.. 

With good act and nice plot.. Another reason why the actors can play quiet good on the movie, was probably because for Korean baseball is almost like Badminton  for Indonesian people. So, almost all Korean can play baseball.. and it made this movie much more good.

They played together in Frozen Flower "Sang Hwa Jom" (2008), a movie based on a true story about Korean History on Koryo Dynasty era. A King who have to save his Dynasty from Yuan Dynasty's control. The story particularly controversial on the characters’ violation of royal family protocol and their pursuit of love. Despite the tragic love story involving royal family with the palace's guard and controversial story about a Homosexual King, the actor, Joo jin mo, who played as main character, won The Best actor award on 54th Daesang Movie Awards (a big movie award in Korea).

Koryo Dynasty's official name is the Kingdom of Goryeo derived from "Goguryeo"(918 - 1392). It was a Korean biggest state, established in 918 by Emperor Taejo. Korea gets its name from this kingdom which became to be pronounced "Korea". It united the Later Three Kingdomsin (there was three big Kingdom in Korea; Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla) . By the 14th century Goryeo was tottering under Yuan Dynasty control. Although King Gongmin managed to "free" his Kingdom from the Mongolian yoke, the Goryeo general Yi Seonggye revolted and overthrew the last King of Goryeo, King Gongyang in 1392. Gongyang was killed in 1394.

After that, the dynasty change into Joseon Dynasty, where the 4th King -Seojong The Great (1418-1450) found and established Korean language and literary that used until now.

Last night i watched this movie.. it was really funny, but without slapstick scenes. so, it funny by itself.. This comedy-action movie released in 2001, tell about 4 cool and warm hearted assassins, who live in a same house, and have an almost never failed record track.. but, in this movie, you can see the human part of a cold blood assassin.. how they deal with problems, and how they try to act professionally cool..

really worth to watch..

korean movies that i watched..

5 months since i came to Korea, the most frequent things that i used to do on leisure time is appreciating Korean movies.. At first, in order to get adapted to this language quickly, my roommate, Defri, told me that i should watch Korean movies and listening to their songs.. "it will be helpful", she said.

Then, i started to watch their movies and dramas (tv serial). Lucky, we got a quite high speed internet connection in our dormitory.. so, I took the benefit and started to search for them on internet, watch it online. From those movies that i found interesting, i got some soundtrack and started listen to Korean songs.. hmm, not bad..

And in 5 months, i already watched a few movies and dramas.. and here are the list of movies that i found interesting among those movies that i watched.. :)

hmm.. and actually, i really hope that i can get the movie, and watch it with my family in Indonesia.. sharing the atmosphere.. hehe..

A Bitter sweet life (2001)

it's a movie about war of justice..

a calm, less music, but strong of violence movie..

as i quote from koreanfilm.org, the story is innovative enough to make those violence become a topic of conversation in the movie..

A sad movie.. and yet, very romantic and touching. The story is about a couple who have an almost perfect life, in their fun and simple love... but it was just before the wife get alzheimer disease.. and started to forget everything.

IRIS atau ALIAS ??

Ingat serial tentang spy dan double agent yang pernah diputar di salah satu TV swasta Indonesia sekitar awal tahun 2001? Saya termasuk salah satu penggemar serial ini. Sampai akhirnya tahun lalu pinjam DVD dari teman dan nonton sampai tamat. dengan garapan yang asik, tidak hanya menampilkan artis menarik Jenifer Garner (Electra, Freedom writer, PS. I Love you) sebagai tokoh utamanya, J.J. Abrams juga memberikan alur cerita yang cukup menegangkan, walaupun ceritanya menggunakan latar belakang yang klise di film-film spy lainnya, yaitu konflik saat perang dingin antara KGB dan CIA, tapi karena sering kali diberi bumbu action, dan comedy romance yang menarik, jadi tidak terlalu berat. Serial ini menjadi salah satu serial favorit saya.

Naah, saat ini, di tv Korea, ada serial yang diputar dengan judul IRIS.. yang diperankan oleh Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Hee, Jung Joon Ho, Kim Seung Woo, Kim So Yeon. Kalau pernah melihat ALIAS, bisa dengan mudah mengatakan.. "Wah, ni serial Alias banget.." dengan genre yang hampir sama-Action - Drama - Thriller - Science fiction, serial ini pun menawarkan beberapa adegan action, dan latar belakang cerita perselihsihan antara Korea Utara dan Korea Selatan. Tapi dengan gaya cerita Korean style.. bukan Hollywood style. Dan menurut saya.. terlalu banyak cerita politiknya.. jadi agak sedikit berat.. Tapi, kalau penggemar Lee Byung Hun (2001 All In , 2009 I Come with the Rain dan 2008 The Good, the Bad, the Weird - diputar di PIFF, terakhir 2009 G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) silahkan nonton, deh.. karena actingnya lumayan bagus. walopun khas Lee byung Hun banget.. hehe.

dan ngga tau kenapa.. saat menyaksikan serial ini, ko jadi teringat serial Alias, ya..

hmm...

mungkin itu hanya pendapat pribadi saya saja.. :)

Drama korea ke-dua yang aku tonton sampe abis..

Ceritanya tentang laki-laki awal 40-an, dengan karakter yang keras, kaku.. jadi ngga punya temen deket perempuan maupun laki2.. tapi perfeksionis, jadi sukses dalam karir arsiteknya.. Karena sejak kecil sudah terbiasa melakukan semua sendiri, dan berhasil (sukses), jadi merasa ngga terlalu butuh temen.. males menikah.. karena ngga bisa nonton film favorite di home teater sendiri lagi, dengerin musik sendiri lagi.. dll.. penyakit orang yang udah keenakan jadi bujangan. haha.. Tapi, di drama ini, diceritakan proses perubahan cara pandang dia tentang hidup (tapi tenang, dikemasnya ngga berat, ko. Ringaaan banget).. ya, gitu deh. ceritanya standart, sebenernya. tapi kalo dibandingin dengan drama yang lain, ini jauh lebih baik, menghibur.. (pandangan subjektif, haha)

Sebenernya cerita dengan judul yang serupa sudah diputar di Jepang duluan.. katanya sih sukses juga. Tapi, aku belum nonton kalo yang itu.. (dan ga berniat juga, sih). Kan, dalam rangka belajar bahasa Korea, gitu.. Jadi, nonton yang versi Korea aja. haha. Lagipula, sama seperti drama pertama yang aku tonton (Beethoven virus) di dalam drama ini, karakter utama nya sering bicara dengan bahasa formal.. (jadi cocok sama pelajaran di kelas.. ).

Drama 16 episode ini dikemas dalam alur cerita komedi, dengan bumbu romantis (yang sedikit garing/aneh). Bagian dari drama ini yang membuat aku tertarik selain (of course) castingnya yang menarik dilihat (hahaha), juga karena banyaknya scene yang memperlihatkan karakternya membuat sketsa, denah, dan model bangunan/ ruangan!!!... waaa... gw banget!!!!... terus, lagu2 soundratcknya... jazzy gitu.. gw banget, dah!!!

Hari ini kami berkenalan dengan korean helper friends.. (K-buddy). Tiap orang dapet 1 K-buddy. K-buddy ku anak tingkat akhir, yang kebetulan ambil jurusan english language. yaa.. untung aja. namanya Jung Hyun Woo.. panggilannya Woo (dibaca "u"). Katanya kakaknya tinggal di Indonesia!.. di Jakarta. Wah, asik, dong.. jadi U ga terlalu kaget dengan kebiasaan orang Indonesia, kali ya..
Program ini mengharuskan K-buddy membantu kami memperlancar praktek bahasa dan memperkenalkan budaya Korea...
yaa.. dalam satu tahun ini diharapkan bisa bicara bahasa Korea, lho.. ya gimana, nih..

imagine this: we are living in a global community, a community that mad for growth, then suddenly someone said that we can't tolerate another grow..?

Herman Daly is a post world bank economist, whom considered 'heretics' for not believe in growth. if he is a heretic, then we must be day-dreaming right now. the basis for another growth was just hasn't there anymore. he just got the simple point we are all forgetting in a chase for growth. the wealth of this planet has also the ones that support us to live. we can't have both of them at the same time. we have to set our limit of wealth.

i always posed the problem of today's economy with a simple question: are we prepare to live more simple? you can't expect the earth would support six billion all in a wealth state of common americans today. the resource just wasn't limitless.

but are we ready to face the consequences?

the denial of this state would not work either. see how Daly's thinking about current economic crisis. would it be the first sign of nations' collapses?

i think we will if we continue on denying:)
