21 May 2010 at Beomeosa (Temple of the nirvana Fish)

on May 21st, 2010 I went to Beomeosa Temple, at Busan, South Korea. That day was celebrated as Budha's Birthday.

In Korea, this day is called 석가탄신일 (Seokga tansinil), meaning "the day of Buddha's birthday" or 부처님 오신 날 (Bucheonim osin nal) meaning "the day when Buddha arrived".

Lotus lanterns cover the entire temple throughout the month which are often flooded down the street.

Beom(범;梵) = nirvana - eo(어;魚) = fish - sa(사;寺) = temple.[1] Thus the name of the temple came to be ＂Heavenly Fish.＂ It is also claimed that the fish came from Nirvana, the Buddhist state of non-suffering. Therefore the temple also became known as ＂The temple where fish from Nirvana Play.＂

Beomeosa Seven Story Stone Pagoda is relatively recent addition and contains a Sari of theBuddha. The four corners of the base of the pagoda are guarded by stone sculptures of the Four Heavenly Kings. Beomeosa's museum sets behind the pagoda.

Beomeosa's second gate, Beomeosa Cheonwangmun, or Gate of the Four Heavenly Kingswas originally built in 1699 and houses the four kings or divas guarding the entrance to the temple.

Budha's birthday festival..at Beomeosa

Hari itu sebenernya kami berencana pergi ke Gyoung Ju, sebuah kota tua peninggalan Dinasty Silla, yang berjarak kurang lebih 1,5 jam dari terminal bis Nopodong, Busan. Karena, menurut kalender Korea, tanggal 21 Mei lalu adalah hari kelahiran Budha, dan hari disebarkannya agama Budha. Kabarnya, di Gyoung-Ju akan ada Festival menarik. Lagipula, menurut ramalan cuaca, hari itu akan cerah. Hari yang baik untuk jalan-jalan, hehe...

Tapi, apa mau dikata.. orang bilang kalau punya mau pergi, lebih baik mendadak, karena kalau direncanakan, tiba2 ada hal mendadak yang membuat rencana batal.. hehe.

Salah satu teman kami, Dominik, harus bermain Volley di Haeundae, pantai populernya Busan. Akhirnya, rencana kami pun berubah, setelah ikut berpartisipasi mendukung Dominik main, dan ikutan main di pantai (tentu saja), kunjungan festival dirubah jadi menuju Beomeosa.

Glad I've try..

When you tried your best for something, often came up with a good result.. cause you done it with "nothing to lose" feeling..

Last week, Friday, 30th April, I participated on a Korean language speech contest for foreigner student which held at my university. It was a contest to select our university's student who will represent Silla Univ to participate on the real contest, held by Busan Foundation for International Activities.

Many of my friend hesitate to participate on this contest, they thought that their Korean isn't good enough. Or just feeling not into it.. It wasn't lazy, but something else, felt that something else is more important than preparing for this contest. So it was me and Sarah, my friend from Malaysia, who tried to participated..

At first, I just wanted to try.. It wasn't my goal to be a winner. After all I am just a beginner lever in Korean language. But, I tried.. :) trying to know my limit.. and my progress in Korean. But I was a bit worried. Because my throat was already sick.. cough.. but, I want to prepare this thing as best as I can do..

The week before, I wrote my speech. But it was corrected by my teacher, 3 times.. because I hae 3 teachers, and all of them want to help me, but in their own way, of course..

The first teacher, Ms. Jo, correct my grammar.. But, later on when I read it again, after I corrected my grammar, I found a few things that need to add.. so I add somethings.

Then again, I met with my second teacher, Ms. Yoon, and also she corrected my writing, but add some words, and grammar, to complete my line. But some words and grammar was to hard, so I didn't use it. Also because those grammar is for intermediate level, and the fact is, I haven't learn it yet. So I didn't want to use it. I wanted to use my own level's grammar.. :) cause it sounds more like me. The third teacher, Ms. Lee, she correct and add one sentence.. at the end of my speech, to made it more smooth..

But, the funny thing is.. When I was on the stage, that sentence, the one that Ms. Lee suggested, wasn't used. I forgot to use it.. so I just speak what I want.. with the clearest voice that I got. Fortunately, I didn't cough.. cause actually, the night before contest, I lose my voice, as a result from my practice.. and also before practice I was already hurt my throat.. so It was a bit miracle.

And surprisingly, I got the prize..! silver prize. some said it is a third prize, and some said it is a second prize.. :)

So glad.. and surprise..

well, it turned out to be a thing that worth to try.. :)

It's been a while since I write something in my blog.

My own story..

These days, I just post pictures.. so lazy to write..

Today, I bought a new racket.. my first racket..! my own racket!.. so happy.. :)

but i just bought one.. :( cause I payed it together with sasiwan, my friend.

Often, when we want to play, the racket is with our other friend, so we decided to bought that racket.. it have "wilson" brand. And it is really light.. :) not as good as yonex, but.. for amateur like us, it is very nice..!

We planned to play at our school sports hall,.. but we couldn't turn on the light. Maybe it was because today is weekend, so no one play.. But, we did tried, to find the switch..hehe. But, nothing there. we thought that the light switch is inside office room, and that office room was locked.

So, we played outside.. accompanied with wind.. hehe..

Sometimes when we hit the shuttle cock, when it supposed to go straight, but it turns out going round, following the wind blow. It was so funny..

It was four of us.. me, sasiwan, hafeez, and soun woo. We didn't play too long, cause it was a bit chilly (because of the wind) and I began to cough.. haven't cured yet.. so, when ever there's wind, or cold weather.. I cough.

well, maybe tomorrow, or.. the day after tomorrow, don't know when, we will play again.. :)

because we didn't planned this journey, so i didn't brought my camera. But, I still can use my cellphone's camera though with limited memory..

it was 3 km far from the bus terminal to the temple.

And we walked for 3 km..!

actually, so many good scenes, but without my digital camera, I could only took a few shoot..

so sad.. :(

and just before we reached the temple, there was a pile of small rocks (cairn) , on one side of the road and i think visitors done it for religion purpose.

it was almost sunset, and we saw a restaurant and a souvenir shop..

but it was closed, and because of we were so tired after our long walk,

we just waited for the bus. Sit on that bus stop while saw that restaurant..

with a cup of instant coffee (of course) that tasted so delicious on that chilly afternoon.
